Bride Of Chucky

Yesterday I watched Bride Of Chucky on AMC’s Fear Fest. Bride Of Chucky stars Brad Dourif, returning as the voice of Chucky, and Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany. The film came out in 1998, 10 years after the original, and is 89 minutes long.

At the beginning of the film, a police officer takes Chucky out of evidence lock up at a police station to make some money. Once he stops to wait for someone to come for the doll, Tiffany comes along and kills him. She takes Chucky and brings him back to her trailer and sews him up into one piece. Once she is done she performs a ritual to bring Chucky back to life. Her heavily tattooed, gothic boyfriend comes in and Tiffany gets Chucky to kill him. We find out that Tiffany was dating Charles Lee Ray (now Chucky) when he was alive, and has spent the last 10 years looking for him. She has always wanted to marry him, and when she tells Chucky this he laughs and makes fun of her. Tiffany is very upset and locks Chucky up in a playpen. Eventually he gets out and kills Tiffany, and then resurrects her in the body of a doll.

The rest of the film watches Chucky and Tiffany as they try to make their way to New Jersey to find Chucky’s grave. When he died he was wearing an amulet that can be used to send Chucky and Tiffany’s souls into new bodies, so they must find the amulet as well as new bodies to put their souls into.

I admit the film is dumb at times and has some corny lines, but for a sequel in the Child’s Play series, it’s pretty good. The film has quite a bit of gore, so if that bothers you I wouldn’t try watching it. The film has some comedy, and I love how creepy the Chucky and Tiffany dolls are. There is also some suspense, and the film is definitely better than Child’s Play 3 (the previous sequel) as far as I’m concerned. It’s a fun movie with gore, death and Chucky, so you can’t really complain. I would rate the film an 8 out of 10. No Child’s Play film will ever get a 10 out of 10 from me, because as a whole it isn’t the best series ever, but I think an 8 out of 10 is pretty good.

Have you ever seen Bride Of Chucky?

I’ve seen it! 8 out of 10 sounds right. Good sequel. Just rented Curse of Chucky and like that too.
